All telc exams at the school are carried out by our cooperation partner TANDEM-Frankfurt e.V.

Who needs the exam?

The telc certificate German B1 is based on the common European reference framework (CEFR) and is a prerequisite for acquiring German citizenship. It must be submitted together with the naturalization application and is recognized by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) as a higher-level final test. With the exam you prove that you can use the German language competently in all everyday situations and in a familiar professional environment.

You also need proof of your German language skills at level B1 according to the GER in order to be able to apply for a DSH preparatory course or a preparatory college at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, for example. You must prove this by presenting a certificate, eg telc Deutsch B1. Certificates of attendance will not be accepted.

How much does the exam cost?

The exam fee is €185.

How can I sign up?

You can only register in person during our office hours at the school. Please bring the exam fee and your identity card or passport with you.

The registration deadline is 24 days before the exam.

Is there a preparatory course?

Information on the preparatory courses can be found here.

Who can take the exam?

How is the exam structured?

The Telc Zertifikat Deutsch B1 exam consists of a written part that covers the areas of reading, language modules, listening and written expression and lasts about three hours, followed by an oral exam. You can find more information about this here.

What are the minimum requirements to pass and when will I get the results?
In order to pass the exam, the participants must achieve 60% of the maximum possible number of points in both the written and the oral exam. This corresponds to 135 points in the written and 45 points in the oral exam.
According to telc gGmbH it takes about 4-6 weeks until your exam result is there, which you can then pick up from us - we will notify you by e-mail.
